The Birth

At the hospital having been induced at 05:00am and now just waiting it out. So thrilled, nervous and scared that I will be meeting my baby girl today .... oh, and that I have to push a 39 week old baby out of my vagina .... eeek! On the up side, the doctor had told me that the monitors showed that I was experiencing contractions and I didn't feel a thing! YIPEE!!!

I had started to feel the contractions by now, hence the giant ball I am sitting on, but obviously they were not too bad at this point as shown by the rather large smile on my face. I think I was also feeling happy that the moaning, groaning and sometimes screaming lady in the bed next to me had been taken away to have her baby. She really scared me .....

21:20 and the Epidural had finally been administered after hours of pleading with any one in a hospital uniform I had seen! The anesthetist that gave me the Epidural was like an angel to me! I could still feel my legs and feet but not those nasty pains anymore and it allowed me to catch 5 minutes of much needed sleep ...

The photo's stop from here due to the fact that I was suddenly rushed off to have an emergency C Section to due a Prolapsed Umbelical Cord and the danger that Emmeline was not getting any oxygen!

Here she is, Emmeline! Our little angel! I was still knocked out somewhere in the hospital, zonked by the Epidural shaking under a thermal blanket with my eyes rolling around my head ... apparently all normal! So her proud daddy got to spend the first few hours of her life with her so she could at least have a familiar voice around her and not feel all alone.

I love my gorgeous little girl, but as her mother I think that I am also allowed to say that in this photo she does look a little like an alien with those eyes!!

I woke up several times very briefly in recovery and then they bought me down to our room. They very kindly gave us a private room for which I will always be grateful. I got woken up by the nurses and Xavi introduced me to my little girl, and then they gave her to me so that she could try to eat. They warned me that some babies have a problem latching on and that I should not stress. Emmeline burrowed a little, found my nipple and grabbed hold, furiously suckling away without any problems. Champion!

The problem was that they gave her to me whilst I was laying down, so instead of her being in my arms, she was just kinda lying on top of me suckling away. I was petrified that her nose would get squashed on my ample boob and she would suffocate!!

A very tired and very happy mommy and daddy

Finally mommy and baby get some very much needed sleep.......

I woke up and looked over and could not believe that this is what Xavi and I made!! How beautiful is she! She took my breath away and I was speechless .... I feel truely blessed to have this little person in my life!

Proud daddy Xavi with his little princess

So small and so beautiful

Emmeline's first manicure. Who knew that babies came out with such long and lethal knives attached to the end of their cute little hands???

Emmeline's first visitors

Time to go home!!!
